CONTACT INFORMATION CHARACTER NAME Subaru Hoshikawa ( Age 11 Gem Rainbow Obsidian Permissions Well, he's eleven, for starters. If you can't imagine a decent person doin' it to a kid, fire me a PM first! For those without morals -Violence? Simple brawls, I can deal with, but brutalizing the child? Definitely need to talk it over first. -Hugs? Totally up for sharin' the love, bruh. -Kisses? Anythin' less chaste than a kiss on the cheek is a bit too much lovin', probably. -Romance? He's just barely on the cusp of adolescence, man. He doesn't quite get it. Yet. That needs some plottins. -Meta? Go ahead. Confuse him. Or make him think. Either goes. NOTES One of his first powers that he discovered was the ability to detect other beings (and now emotional states thanks to new empathy powers) via electromagnetic fields. Permissions associated with that have their own post here. |

Rocky-Lucario, Lvl. 100.
OT: Hoshikawa Subaru
Met at: Entralink at level 5. Evolved from Riolu at level 30.
Hardy nature.
Somewhat stubborn.
Hold Item: None.
Ability: Inner Focus.
-Dark Pulse
-Aura Sphere
-Bone Rush
-Metal Claw
Rocky was met at the Entralink, where it immediately attacked-or attempted to attack-War-Rock. It was initially apprehensive of the unfamiliar lifeform, but as time went on, War-Rock and Rocky found that they had similar temperaments. It enjoys fighting quite a lot, and is stubborn enough to ignore Subaru's feeble attempts at reigning in its temper. After the cave in at Mistralton, however, Rocky has learned to reign in its temper a bit more, and to act more responsibly, due to having only limited supplies and Subaru and his Pokemon's relegated role in helping to protect the injured Astral while they were trapped. It often picks fights with Leo and seems to have started a rivalry with it.
Leo-Luxray, Lvl. 100.
OT: Hoshikawa Subaru
Caught at: Route 3 at level 13. Evolved from Shiinx at level 15. Evolved from Luxio at level 30.
Brave nature.
Highly persistent.
Hold Item: None.
Ability: Intimidate
-Discharge
-Crunch
-Swagger
-Scary Face
Leo was met at Route 3 when its constant electrical discharge unsettled War-Rock enough for Subaru to go searching for it. Before they were able to decide what to do, Rocky challenged Leo to a battle which resulted in its capture. Leo is steadfast and prideful, and while it does not actively seek fights, it never backs down from a challenge. It is currently rivals with Rocky.
Zutz-Crobat, Level 100
OT: Hoshikawa Subaru
Caught at: Pinwheel Forest Depths (swarm) at level 18. Evolved from Zubat at level 22. Evolved Golbat at level 40.
Lonely nature.
Alert to sounds.
Hold Item: None
Ability: Inner Focus
-Poison Fang
-Air Slash
-Acrobatics
-Confuse Ray
Zutz was met while Subaru was trying to find his way out of Pinwheel Forest. Having been separated from its own swarm, and unused to flying about in forests, it was glad to have fellow companions trying to find their way out as well, and assisted with its echolocation whenever it could. By the time they managed to get out, Zutz had decided to stay with the group, as it didn't really know how to find its fellow mates, and it had liked the dynamic of Subaru's group enough to hang around. Subaru decided to take it along, despite his misgivings about catching yet another Pokemon, mostly because he didn't want to leave it alone after all it had done for them and it didn't have anywhere else to go.
Geograph-Sigilyph, Level 100
OT: Hoshikawa Subaru
Caught at: Desert Resort at level 27.
Quiet nature.
Strong willed.
Hold Item: None
Ability: Magic Guard
-Reflect
-Psychic
-Air Slash
-Cosmic Power
While helping Astral locate a mysterious item in order to become solid and reawaken Yuuma from his event-induced coma, Subaru ran into a band of Sigilyph that had been protecting the ruins. After identifying Geograph as the leader, Astral and Subaru separated it from the band and captured it, which caused the rest of flock to retreat long enough for them to get in the ruins. The Sigilyph reluctantly agreed to help them, due to both being bested and by acknowledging that Astral did have similar energies to the item that they were seeking in the ruins. After being given a name of another ancient protector from Subaru, however, and watching how Subaru respected the ruins even as he explored it, Geograph developed a sense of respect for the young boy, and stayed with him.
Basically, it's been decided that the first application of Subaru's electrokinesis power is to be able to generate an electromagnetic field around his body, and one of its functions is going to be the ability to sense the "waves" or other energies given off by others in the area! So far, this is currently limited to being able to detect whether they're a gem or human, but it might be able to be expanded to other things as well once his power grows!
Basically, this is just gonna be a clarification post. Can he be unable to detect your character at all (does your gem ability block it, or something else?), and is there anything special about your character that he could learn to sense, given enough time and/or familiarity? Is there anything else you want to add?
EDIT: Now, with his new power of empathy, he'll be able to sense out emotional states by sensing EM waves as well! He's working on filtering that out so it's not a default setting when he does sense for things, but until then, feel free to opt out of that kind of stuff too!
Comements are screened, btw.

[CHARACTER INFO]
CHARACTER NAME: Hoshikawa Subaru, also known as Rockman when fused with his companion
FANDOM: Ryuusei no Rockman video game/anime series (known as Megaman Star Force in the US)
CHRONOLOGY: Just before he leaves to the "final boss area" in game three: Black Ace/Red Joker. He's headed off to space to stop a meteor made of electromagnetic waste from hitting the earth.
CLASS: Hero-but he's still learning. (He's only ten, after all.)
SUPERHERO NAME: Rockman
ALTER EGO: Hoshikawa Subaru / student
BACKGROUND:
In the year 22XX, technology has become centralized on using electromagnetic waves now called Denpa (meaning radio-waves) as a network to link all devices together in the earth's magnetic field. The technology continues to grow in leaps and bounds, creating new possibilities with every jump. Denpa is used so often that the network has developed into its own world invisible to the human eye: the Wave World. Technology no longer uses gears and wires to make things move-instead all they have is a simple router known as a Comp Space, where clusters of Denpa reside. These Denpa become figures called "Mr. Hertz," an AI that appears in various forms and performs various tasks depending on their location and purpose. The Hertz travel the Wave World as signals, creating a closely interlocked system that encompasses the whole world, bringing communications to a whole new level.
This growth in communications leads people to treasure connections with others over much else, and the electrical link called a "BrotherBand," which seems not too different from adding someone on Facebook or LiveJournal. However, it signifies that one has bonds with others, and is respected as a status symbol...even to the point of allowing one to acquire privileges such as free bus rides or luxury rooms in hotels if one has many "Brothers," or people who are linked to one by a BrotherBand. It's also found that they can lend power through those bonds with others...in more ways than one.
Hoshikawa Subaru is a ten (possibly eleven at the point in the series he's pulled from, although there is no confirmation) year old boy who suddenly gains a unique and dangerous power when he encounters a wayward alien fugitive, War-Rock, who's body is made of Denpa. War-Rock reveals that he is fleeing from his planet as a fugitive, and requests to borrow the boy's body because something about the Earth's field limits his power as a foreign inhabitant, and he must fuse with a human from Earth to be able to use his true power. At first, Subaru refuses, but when viruses and other Denpa beings from War-Rock's home planet create chaos in an attempt to find him, he agrees on one condition: that the alien tell him about his missing father, who apparently died in a space station accident three years prior and whom War-Rock claimed to know.
Through fusing with War-Rock, Subaru becomes Rockman, a Denpa-Human who can traverse both the real and Wave World. Through this unique ability, Rockman can solve many problems in the network, from mild virus attacks to threatening hacking attempts...and to even save the world from other individuals with the same legendary power over Denpa. Over time, he has been forced to fight both enemy and friend for the better of the world-and has even become regarded as a hero over time. He has saved the world twice-once from invaders from War-Rock's planet, once from a scientist using ancient Denpa technology to control the Earth and divide humans into classes...and quite possibly once again from a man using the very waste produced by Denpa to control a meteor made of the very same material...a meteor that is large enough to hold the very planet's existence under its sway.
Rockman's main strength is the bonds he shares with his friends-the very action of creating a BrotherBand gives him abilities that help him survive and gain advantages in battle.
PERSONALITY:
On first glance, Hoshikawa Subaru has the personality of any ten/eleven year old boy-chipper, full of energy, eager to meet most anything with enthusiasm. A closer look shows that he seems to act somewhat differently at times-he can be reserved with his own emotions, and can even be empathetic at times if one strikes a chord with him. He treasures his friends and others he keeps close greatly, and suffers a drastic change in personality if even one of them is lost-sometimes reverting to a moping wreck of his former self, other times becoming a far stronger, more determined character in order to save them again.
He wasn't always like this-three years prior to the first game, his father, who Subaru idolized greatly, disappeared with the space station he was on, Peace, and from then on Subaru closed his heart to nearly everyone save his mother, frightened to love again. He lived the three years prior to the first game as a soft-spoken, self-isolated kid who refused to seek connections to others, fearing the pain of losing them again. It takes meeting the alien fugitive, War-Rock, and the highly emotional battles that happen with him, to cause Subaru to interact with others again, and to slowly learn that he can, indeed, make friends, and that he does have the power to protect them.
Even after that large initial change, he still learns from his battles. During the events of the second game, he was slowly overwhelmed by the public's knowledge of his and War-Rock's fused form, Rockman, and their sudden lauding of his heroic actions. He slowly began to fold under the public's expectations of him, breaking completely into his former self when he was unable to save any of his friends save for one (the said friend then proceeded to scold him back into shape). Eventually, he learned that he had to simply do the best he could-even if he failed expectations he would leave a torch for another to pick up. He learned courage.
The third game sees him grow into a leader figure in the face of loss-when his friends are taken from him, seemingly smitten dead in the blink of an eye, he starts to assume control, and encourages others around him not to give up. This hints at a charismatic side to his character-that he is, indeed, slowly adopting Rockman's characteristics as his own.
Subaru treasures a long standing dream to become an astronaut and visit space, fueled by his father's disappearance and a desire to find him.
POWER:
On his own, Subaru has no power-the only thing remarkable about him is that he's nimbler than the average ten-year-old and has a slight resistance to electromagnetic waste (called Noise) due to fighting with War-Rock so long. He has a Visualizer (a set of goggles/glasses given to him by his father) that is able to see electromagnetic waves-and if War-Rock's presence is nearby, it can also see the Wave World. (Of course, this is rendered virtually useless out of his own canon.)
As Rockman (whom he cannot be without War-Rock), he gains the general abilities of a Wave Human-he can move between the Wave World and the real world on a thought, as well as obtaining improved reflexes and strength. All Denpa-Humans also have a unique attacking ability that only they can perform, depending on the characteristics of the Denpa being that is part of the fusion. Rockman's ability is to be exceptionally talented with Denpa-he can infuse a normally innocuous object in his world-a Battle Card, normally inserted into devices to delete viruses-with Denpa to power it up. This forms it into a weapon for a limited time: for example a Battle Card called "Gatling" changes his left arm into a Gatling gun-like device that shoots energy bullets rapidly, while another called "Mini-Boomer" becomes a small ball-shaped grenade. This, while on first glance doesn't seem to be the most powerful of abilities compared to other Denpa-Humans, allows Rockman to be versatile in battle. When he doesn't use Battle Cards, he has a "default" weapon in the form of "Rockbuster," in which his left arm becomes a hand-cannon that can fire either weak bursts of energy in rapid fire or a single charged shot, which takes time but is somewhat more powerful(in the first two games, this hand-cannon took the form of War-Rock's head, which was permanently attached in place of a left hand-an design change in the third game gives Rockman two visible hands).
The powers granted to him by the portal will adopt the form of Rockman-albeit more restricted. He will not become a Denpa-Human, as before-he merely becomes a boy wearing armored spandex with a weak cannon formed from the left hand (Rockbuster). The weapons he uses in that form are materialized by Battle Cards-but in the City, he will be reduced to two basic cards-the short range attack of Sword, which changes his left arm into an electromagnetic sword; and the long range attack of Cannon, which changes his left arm into a cannon that can fire bursts of energy.

[The communicator crackles to life, a hesitant pressing of buttons can be heard as the user eventually figures out that they have the object working. The face on the communicator screen looks resolute as he starts talking into it.]
Hey...is anyone there? I'm looking for some people...Has anyone seen a girl my age wearing pink? Or a boy who's...kinda big? Or a short one wearing glasses? Or a girl with long blond hair in pigtails? They're my friends...I'm wondering if they were pulled here with me...if they were they'd at least be safe...
...War-Rock? Are you out here too? I know you can protect yourself but...I'm worried...
[The face on the screen starts looking insecure as Subaru starts to bite his lip, looking much more like his real age.]
I hope you all are okay...
LOGS POST (THIRD PERSON) SAMPLE:
Subaru's eyes wandered around as he walked through the city, his eyes fascinated by everything. Coming from a small town, the only thing he could remotely compare to this was the large shopping complex that was a bus ride away. And even Vista Point, with all it's glowing signs and large buildings...it didn't seem to match the solemn majesty this city had. His young eyes were easily overwhelmed by the city's size. His neck ached from constantly looking up at the buildings-they all looked so tall. Then again, everything looked big to his ten year old body-long alleys seemed dark and foreboding; buildings taller than five floors looked massive; and of course, many of the residents of this city looked twice his size. With all the battles he and his companions had been through, he couldn't help but jump every time he saw someone tall.
Sometimes, however, his attention would be shifted away from the city and its inhabitants and down to the device in his hands. His desire to visit space had led to an interest with any sort of technology-and his escapades with his friends led him to a particular interest in communications. On finding out that this was a communicator, he couldn't help but play with it. Perhaps he could find his friends in this strange place as well by using this. He had to believe in that.
After all, they had been able to reach out to him across space. He could do the same, right?
With that, his eyes focus on the communicator in his hands, trying to puzzle it out.
